Location : Northern Territory, Australia.
Habitat : Grassy, roadside margin near wetlands
Notes : The range of this species extends into New Guinea and parts of eastern Indonesia.

Notes : this African finch has been introduced to a number of countries in Europe, the Americas and the Pacific. In Southeast Asia it occurs in Singapore.
