Ensure turtle eggs hatch safely THE discovery of newly-laid hawksbill or green turtle eggs on Singapore's Jurong Island, (Turtle surprise on Jurong Island; ST, Aug 10), is, indeed, good news for many Singaporeans. I believe this is the first in recent times that turtle eggs have been discovered in Singapore. More often, they are found in Malaysian states like Terengganu. p> Turtles are endangered sea animals. I urge the Singapore authorities and the Underwater World to take concrete steps, like their Malaysian counterparts have, to ensure that the turtle eggs hatch in safety here.
